Biography & History

“Tasmanian music legend”

Forward from the Web Editor
“It’s a privilege to bring together this celebration of Eddie Tuleja’s musical journey. I’m not Eddie, but I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing his artistry through the songs, the stories, and the way his guitar speaks—with decades of experience behind it, so when he approached me to help bring together his works and stories I was more than happy to repay the inspirations. This website is designed to offer a window into Eddie's life: the songs he helped bring to life, the stories of global touring, and the grounded creativity he nurtures here in Tasmania's heart. Enjoy.”

Eddie Tuleja is a musician whose story spans continents and generations. Born in New Jersey, he discovered the freedom of music early, studying at Cornell University where he and fellow students formed what became the band King Harvest

It was in Paris during the early 1970s that he and his bandmates recorded what is now an iconic classic: Dancing in the Moonlight”, first appearing on Boffalongo in 1970 and taken worldwide by King Harvest in 1972–73, peaking at No. 13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and No. 5 in Canada.

Eddie’s role as guitarist and songwriter helped shape that soft‑rock sound that still fires up playlists today. After their breakthrough, King Harvest signed to A&M in 1975, and despite not scoring another chart hit, its members—including Eddie—went on to tour with The Beach Boys, and appear on Dennis Wilson’s solo album Pacific Ocean Blue.

Since relocating to Tasmania in 1988, Eddie has made the Meander Valley his creative home. He’s built a second career teaching guitar, collaborating in myriad local bands, and continuing to perform original material rooted in rural blues, folk, acoustic fingerstyle and country‑rock traditions in under his own name and with Meander Men’s Choir and Rough Bark.
